These Two Aspects of Social Work Needs Urgent Attention

There are two things which are much needed in the 2016 as better work practices in social care agency. Without getting into a long prologue, let’s discuss those points.

Working together and increased information sharing

This is relevant even in 2016. We have seen many serious care reviews where this, or the lack of this, has been the major issue. We believe that linking key services together will always result in better results. This can easily be done by linking the seniors and the designated workers of certain areas. They can seriously impact the care system by arranging a few meet & greet sessions every year. This is great for relationship building, know each other and help to build a better working relationship. This can bring services like Police, Health and Education etc. together.

Safety of Professionals and Agencies

People need to understand what we do and how we do it. They need to know about our responsibilities and procedures. They should know when to call us to report something or even to ask us any general question. As a social work agency in UK, many times we have noted that the head of safeguarding sat with our workers and asked them questions regarding situations where they didn't really know what to do. This can easily be solved. This will help those people to understand that they are also accountable for the best interest of the seniors and this isn't a job of the social worker exclusively.

What’s The Job of a Community Care Worker?

The western world is witnessing population ageing. We will see a significant growth in the numbers of 65+ people, in the next two decades. This means, any support meant for these senior people will be in high demand. If you are doing community care jobs in UK, this is great news for you. You will have a great number of jobs to choose from and will be in demand. If you are not, then this is as great a career option as you might ever come across.

What does a community care worker do really? The name says it all that is providing care for the community. On an average week, the basic duties of a community care worker will be to give out to the elderly person or person with disability showers, prepare meals, clean the house, drive the person to whom he/she is assisting to appointments or various errands and even go shopping. Simple tasks we do on a daily basis becomes such a pain when we grow older and this is where the community care worker comes handy. Not only the elderly but also people who are crippled by disease or serious injuries are in need of a care giver for example those suffering from emphysema, those having a broken hip and having had a stroke. The elderly are most likely to do their personal hygiene tasks by themselves to most of their ability and leave the rest to the carer. Being a care giver is very gratifying since along with doing your job, you are also assisting the needy.
